Transcriptomic Aging

Transcriptomic aging refers to age-related changes in gene expression patterns across cells and tissues. As organisms age, global transcriptional profiles shift, reflecting altered cellular priorities and declining regulatory fidelity. Transcriptomic aging includes reduced expression of genes involved in repair and stress resistance, along with increased expression of inflammatory and senescence-related genes. These changes result from epigenomic drift, signaling pathway dysregulation, and cellular damage accumulation. Transcriptomic aging increases variability in gene expression between cells, reducing functional coordination within tissues. This process contributes to functional decline and disease susceptibility. Studying transcriptomic aging enables identification of aging signatures, biomarkers, and regulatory networks driving decline. Transcriptomic analysis provides a dynamic view of aging biology beyond static genetic information.
