This track explores social, economic, and cultural dimensions of aging, with emphasis on roles, relationships, and transitions. Topics include changing family structures, intergenerational support, social networks, loneliness and social isolation, and their impact on health and wellbeing. Social Gerontology, Work and Retirement Transitions Presentations will examine employment, retirement timing, later-life work, and ageism in labor markets. The session will highlight policies and practices that support productive and meaningful engagement of older adults in society. Methodologically robust qualitative and quantitative studies, cross-national comparisons, and interventions addressing social determinants of healthy aging are encouraged, with attention to heterogeneity and inequality across populations.
