SIRT6 and Longevity

SIRT6 and Longevity

SIRT6 is a sirtuin that plays a critical role in genomic stability, DNA repair, and metabolic regulation. It supports efficient repair of DNA damage and helps maintain chromatin structure during aging. SIRT6 also regulates glucose metabolism and inflammation, contributing to metabolic balance and stress resistance. Reduced SIRT6 activity is associated with accelerated aging and increased disease susceptibility. Enhanced SIRT6 function has been linked to lifespan extension and improved healthspan in experimental models. By protecting genome integrity and regulating metabolic pathways, SIRT6 is considered a key longevity factor and an important target in aging biology.
