SIRT1 and Aging

SIRT1 and Aging

SIRT1 is a widely studied sirtuin that regulates aging through its effects on metabolism, inflammation, and stress responses. It influences glucose and lipid metabolism, enhances mitochondrial biogenesis, and promotes DNA repair. SIRT1 activity supports cellular survival under stress and reduces inflammatory signaling associated with aging. With age, SIRT1 function may decline, contributing to metabolic imbalance and increased disease risk. Activation of SIRT1 has been linked to improved metabolic health and delayed aging phenotypes. SIRT1 plays a central role in integrating nutrient sensing with cellular maintenance, making it a key target in aging and longevity research.
