Heat Stress Longevity

Heat Stress Longevity

Heat stress longevity refers to lifespan and healthspan benefits associated with controlled exposure to elevated temperatures. Mild heat stress activates cellular defense mechanisms that enhance protein stability, metabolic efficiency, and stress tolerance. Heat exposure induces protective pathways that improve cellular repair and resilience. With aging, responsiveness to heat stress declines, reducing adaptive capacity. However, appropriately dosed heat stress can stimulate protective responses that counteract age-related decline. Heat stress longevity reflects the principle that transient physiological challenges promote long-term resilience. Understanding this relationship highlights thermal stress as a hormetic stimulus influencing aging biology and longevity pathways.
