Cerebrovascular Aging

Cerebrovascular Aging

Cerebrovascular aging describes age-related changes in blood vessels supplying the brain. These include arterial stiffening, endothelial dysfunction, reduced cerebral blood flow, and impaired vascular responsiveness. Cerebrovascular aging compromises delivery of oxygen and nutrients while limiting waste removal. Reduced vascular reserve increases vulnerability to ischemia and neural injury. Cerebrovascular decline strongly influences cognitive aging and brain resilience. Understanding cerebrovascular aging emphasizes the role of vascular health in maintaining neural function and preventing neurological decline.
