Bone Aging

Bone Aging

Bone aging involves progressive changes in bone composition, structure, and remodeling capacity. Aging bones show reduced mineral density, altered trabecular architecture, and diminished repair efficiency. Bone aging is influenced by endocrine changes, reduced physical loading, chronic inflammation, and altered nutrient metabolism. These changes compromise skeletal strength and increase fracture susceptibility. Bone aging also affects bone marrow composition and its support of hematopoietic function. Maintaining bone quality is essential for posture, movement, and protection of vital organs. Bone aging research emphasizes preserving structural integrity rather than density alone to support healthy aging.
